Rigging the vans

Arrived at registration around 3pm and picked up the signage




Seats and empty bike boxes then handed in for easterly transportation



Inspections were already taking place in the parking lot so it helped to follow the inspectors around and pick up on the minutia in the rules department. Turns out we had an official light bar on order after all. This is good.






Lots of organized chaos without the organization but things seem to be getting done. I think we are ahead of our plan in that we should have the vehicle signage applied
and the bikes prepped with reflective tape before the morning when we have an appointment with the inspector.















Wow - it looks like we are going to get inspected tonight - this would be excellent. Results of inspection in the next post.
All going retie darn smoothly - helped along by very cooperative officials. I think this is easier and less tense that the 508.

Van packing underway

The carpenters have finished their work and I've put the "navigation package" in each vehicle.







Folks are swinging by Bill's house and dropping off their bags. Its going to be a packed caravan rolling south tomorrow morning as there are going to be 8 bike boxes on board as well. I'm taking the Prius down to Oceanside and Oliver is bringing it back. This works well as I can take two bike empty bike boxes in the Prius.

Van build-out

Crew is busy building out van interiors and installing tow hitch for bike rack mounting. Van #2 has just 89 miles on it.

Vehicle Acquisition Phase completed

Sig, DavidG, Bill and I headed down to the National Rental car center and picked up our two 15 person vans and our smaller mini-van. They are now waiting at Bill's house for Eduardo's carpenters to arrive and do the seat removal and build out the storage area with beautiful Salvadoran mahogany.
