11/13 in and around Twyfelfontein

Twyfelfontein is all about organ pipes (basalt intrusions) and rock art (petroglyphs). (In other words Etosha is an hard act to follow)

Got up pre dawn, strapped on the running shoes and headed out of Dodge. First though, i swung by the dining hall with starbucks packet in hand, for some hot water. Then a quick jaunt out to towards the main road. I was packing the RX100 but the dawn was unphotogenic. At least it was cool.

After a very light breakfast we hit the area of basalt intrusion.

ain't no Giant's Causeway but

nice textures

all done before the germanic intrusion

A quick exit and 4km ride over to the actual Twyfelfontein (doubtful spring) around which are centred some 5,200 petroglyphs. We took the long guided hike and saw a small subset

its noon it is very hot. So very hot. We recharge in the main gift shop/restaurant, an architectural exercise in recycling 50 gallon drums.

before heading back to the lodge (Dodge?) to hide from the heat till 5pm.
